China Moves Forward India Backward

I have written extensively on India China development prospects. It is my observation that China is almost leaping flogging while India is crawling. We generally talked earlier that India grows at the rate of 9% or above, we shall be in a position to eradicate poverty in less than ten years. But, even if we are able to achieve part of that development society will take generations to come to terms for growth. If India keeps moving backward while its neighbour moves forward.

At the time when India is still discussing SEZs and Nandigram, China has created Shanghai. We are discussing about first full fledged SEZ, a good respectable FDI, and many others progressive steps, China is doing all these at astronomical pace. Indian leaders like Manmohan, Kamal Nath and Maran kept on promising moon for last many years without any major investments, China grabbed the huge investments from Intel.

There are very few manufacturing institutions like Intel in the world and its investments of the tune of $2.5 billion shows the mark. I do not know when India turn will come for such huge investments. India is busy in focusing on backwards. India is still struggling to keep farmers farmer.

Intel announced on Monday it will build a $2.5 billion chip factory in China giving the US Company a bigger presence in the booming Chinese market and boosting Beijing’s efforts to attract high tech investment.

The factory will supply chipsets to customers in China, which Intel expects to be the largest information technology market by the time the facility opens in 2010, Intel CEO Paul Otelline said at a news conference in the Great Hall of the People.

Intel was planning for huge investment since last few years especially in Asia. During the last visit in 2005, Intel CEO had shown some interest to set up plants here in India. But, this has not materialized till date. When India and its leaders are busy in sorting out basic social and political issues, the world is moving fast. I do not understand that why Kalam keeps talking about developed India if we do not have this small wisdom to attract good investments?

The facility in the north eastern city of Dalian will be Intel’s first factory in Asia that will fabricate wafers, the thin silicon platters on which dozens of chips are etched.

“This project confirms and enhances the strategic importance of China in our global strategy and in the IT industry around the world,” Otelline said.

“Our goal in China is to support a transition from ‘manufactured in China to ‘innovated in China,” he said. The factory will use the most advanced circuit etching technology that the US government will permit Intel to export to China at the time production begins, Otellini said.

The Chinese government said earlier that Intel will be using 90-nanometer technology which refers to making circuits 90 billionths of a meter in width. That is considered to be one to two generations behind Intel’s most advanced technology. US remains a technology leaders. If even a part of Cruxwell’s law becomes correct, Asian nation will go 200 years behind Western countries especially USA if governments in Asian countries do not understand this fact. The whole nation will remain backward with a need for reservation for all.

Otellini said the firms received government incentives to locate the factory in China.

It is simple to comprehend the foreign policies of rising nation. When Chinese President comes to India, reminds us about our regional responsibilities and abuses West but when the question of investment and growth comes, Chinese leadership has different and focused view. Indian leaders and intelligentsia are unable to understand these simple tricks.

Intel has 6000 employees in China and factories in Shanghai and the western city of Chengdu making memory chips, microprocessors and other products.

The Intel factory will be China’s biggest foreign high tech investment to date.

India needs to take few lessons from all these events. We have been too complacent with the few Mittals, Nooyi and Ambanis. There is a need for all Indians to grow. They appear quite contented with meager peace. Advertising for Pepsi is one thing but demanding from our government to act fast is other. Why can not we shout – Yeh Dil Mange more!!

Tata is fighting lone battle with Bengal fighters trained by CPM and motivated and lead by Mamata and Medha. India’s neighbour is growing fast, rising high and becoming developed.

Today China has a demand for 1000 cars per day. With this growth, any person can understand the change of scenario in the years to come. Now, China’s oldest car maker breathed new life into Britains’ MG with the first Chinese-made models of the historic brand rolling off a new multi-million dollar plant on Tuesday.

Total investments in the project, based in the east Chinese city of Nanjing, will be 2.82 billion yuan. Nanjing will produce another 250,000 engines and 100,000 gearboxes annually with investment rising to 3.5 billion yuan over the next five years.

Nanjing Auto, which began producing cars in 1947, bought the rights to the historic cars from the bankrupts MG Rover Group, once makers of the iconic Mini and Jaguar, in July 2005. It acquired MG Rover’s assembly lines, engine technology and many of the firm’s models including MGZR, MGZS and MGZT for 53 million in July 2005, after the collapse of Britain’s last independent carmaker. Nanjing is aiming to roll out 200,000 MGs from its China plant annually for both the domestic market and exports.

When China has its own problems, India has many others. Indian democracy is still struggling to come out from caste biased, individual ideals and poverty continuation. India has a long a way to go.

Now, China has understood another milestone. They are making compulsory for its elitist citizens to learn golf. Learning golf means unlearning many things simultaneously. Golf is a superb game that way. When you get up early morning to play golf, go to the golf course and get energized, then the whole concept of life starts changing. The elitist starts feeling elite not because of status, money or compulsion but it comes natural. The growing society has yet to understand these. China is lucky to have the leadership who made such compulsory changes in society.

Keeping the Beijing Olympics in vision, China is learning English. China understands the need of these language barriers for future knowledge. If we accept Kruzweil’s law, there is hardly any ambiguity. The future updated knowledge is going to be available in one language and that is English. By 2050, this world will be forced to accept only one language and that will be English. Rest of the languages across the world will be the language of tribals. India is still years behind to understand the importance of these enforced regulations and remain busy with caste based reservations which has gone irrelevant.

“We should promote multi-polarity in the world and democracy in international relations and work to make the economic order fairer,” said Mr Hu. Mr President must ensure democracy and freedom to Chinese. When President goes to USA and meets Bill Gates, talks about Windows and English, he must maintain the integrity with his talk and nation policies.

Indian Intelligentsia has prominently spread wrong fears. The evaluations have been not worth mentioning. Just few years back, there was so much writing about the fear of Chinese products. But what happened at last. All the markets in the country are flooded with Chinese products and even crackers and colours of Chinese make are coming to India, but Indian market is able to accommodate properly. Chinese are equally struggling to survive in the open and competitive market.

India has to awaken to reality. Indian leaderships have to learn the potential of this nation and people. India should not allow this to happen. There is no question that why should India moves backward in this progressive age. India needs to move forward.
